Cotes du Rhone Saint Cosme is not an entry level Rhone but a juicy and delicious wine, with character and the stamp of the famous winery Saint Cosme. Of course, in the past it has not left wine critics unmoved and the same is predicted to happen with the 23' harvest...
The Saint Cosme winery has been located in southern Rhone, just outside the village of Gigondas, since 1490. It is a family affair as Louis Barruol, the family's 14th generation winemakers, is currently at the helm. The emphasis is on highlighting both the terroir and the old vines, with ancient winemaking methods and organic farming. Louis Barruol believes that there are fantastic plots of land in the surrounding area, with a unique combination of different terrains and a special terroir, which is worth spending time and effort, being sure that their wine will compensate him. The Cotes du Rhone Saint Cosme is one of them. Syrah grapes come from 3 different soils (limestone, pebble and clayey). The wine is fermented with native yeasts and matures in stainless steel tanks because the purpose is to create a wine with dense fruit and a clear Syrah character.
