How does the idea of trying an African Pinotage, produced inside an explosives factory, sound to you? If we've already piqued your interest, wait until you hear the rest...because the wine is a bomb!
Writer's Block Pinotage - Flagstone is one of Flagstone Winery's most premium wines and has rightly claimed countless awards as it lacks nothing! The special growing conditions of the grapes and the strict philosophy of the winemakers give a rich and unique character to the wine. Flagstone operated as a winery in 2002, because until then it was an explosives factory! It is located in South Africa and has only five, but very strictly selected vineyards, in the best parts of the region, which voluntarily participate in the IPW (Integrated Production of Wine) sustainable agriculture and BWI (Biodiversity in Wine Initiative) program! Their quality? Undeniable!
The grapes for Writer's Block Pinotage - Flagstone come from a vineyard located at the highest point of the Waaihoek Hills. There the effect of the altitude gives the wine a characteristic and pleasantly high acidity. The soils are granite and shale and the roots in their effort to find food deep in the soil, make the plants very durable. After fermentation, it remains for 24 months in barrels of moderate burning and right there, it acquires a huge volume and complexity, which when you try it is hard to forget!
