Why do we love it?

One of the most cosmopolitan varieties in the world, finds its way to the Greece, in a version completely different from the few existing ones. Besides, taking on Pinot Noir is a challenge by itself. Difficult, both in cultivation and vinification, it is always a great challenge for adventurous winemakers who are enchanted by the magical aromas and flavors when you taste it at its best.

For the first time unoaked, the Pinot Noir gave into the hands of oenologist Vassiliki Akriotou and George Kollias, a fine and exquisite red wine. The mountainous vineyards in the slopes of Aegialia gave birth to Orivatis 2022 of Akriotou Microwinery. A lighter version of the beloved "Burgundian" variety, than those we have seen so far shows that perhaps this is the style that suits her best.

Although it is a passepartout wine, do not be afraid at all to pair it with dishes ranging from moussaka to bbq and from pasta with red sauce to grilled salmon. Although on its own, Orivatis is one of those to keep you company all around the year.

Tastes Like

Bright ruby color in the glass with purple hues.

Cool aromas of red fruit with plum and cherry like you just cut it. Strawberry in more jammy form, blackcurrant and raspberry complement the fruity side of its character. From now on, light animal hints of bacon and leather, graphite and hints of liquorice complete the beautiful bouquet.

Moderate volume body, as cool as the nose, with subtle fruity flavors being supported by soft tannins and balanced acidity. Cherry, strawberry and blackcurrant are in the lead, with liquorice complementing the pleasant and easy-set. The long lasting fruity aftertaste leaves the cherry in the mouth for quite a while.

Enjoy it slightly chilled at 16 degrees.
