Superavi - Lapati Wines is a Georgian gem that carries within it Georgia's vast wine history and a very special winemaking method, which has attracted the attention of many sommeliers internationally and every year its reputation grows exponentially. Georgia's vineyard promises to keep us busy in the future!
Two French directors, Vincent Jullien and Guillaume Gouerou, met at the famous Georgian art center, Art Villa Garikula, as part of the international contemporary art festival, and after endless discussions about winemaking, they decided to collaborate and create their natural wines. The Lapati Wines winery was born in 2015, in the city of Sagarejo in Kakheti, to produce wines that highlight the traditional winemaking culture of the country, but are adorned with an extra aromatic freshness, which will result in wines that are easy and very pleasant to drink.
Superavi - Lapati Wines comes 100% from grapes of the Saperavi variety, which is the most well-known and widespread red variety in Georgia. It has the reputation of being difficult in winemaking because it gives high alcohol and strongly tannic wines. For this reason, it is often found in blends with other white varieties. In this case, however, French finesse entered and the Superavi - Lapati Wines passed through stainless steel tanks before ending up for 8 months, in the traditional qvevri clay amphorae. This smoothed the tannins and further enhanced the aromatic freshness of the fruit, resulting in a richly aromatic and tremendously enjoyable red wine, perhaps the best example to get to know the variety!
Superavi - Lapati Wines is a Georgian red wine with a very elegant French touch, which will accompany the grilled lamb chops at your next barbecue!
