Meikle Toir 5 YO The Chinquapin One Peated Single Malt Speyside Whisky, belongs to the new venture of the GlenAllachie distillery, under the watchful eye of Billy Walker himself, who now has over 50 years of experience in the Scotch whisky industry. The peculiarity of this series is the type of peat found in the St. Fergus area of Speyside, as well as the different barrels used for aging the distillates.
This one has undergone 160 hours of fermentation and has then been aged in American oak barrels that were used for Bourbon, but also in a very special category of barrels, which are made from a type of American chestnut. The result is captivating, with the characteristic smoky elements of peat, framed by the distinctive aromas of chestnut and giving a fresh and more complex tasting experience.
Aromas of burnt oak, smoked liquorice, butterscotch, honeycomb, cedar, orange peel and a hint of freshly cut ginger. In the mouth, cocoa, cinnamon, star anise, fresh tobacco and burnt sugar prevail.
