Ace of Grace comes from an earthly paradise in South Africa and is one of the most elegant yet exuberant expressions of the variety we have ever tasted. From the label to the name and content, it exudes grace and finesse, deserving of Tim Atkin's 93 points!
At the southernmost tip of South Africa and west of Cape Town, at the foot of the Riviersonderend mountain range, lies the Lismore Estate Vineyards winery. Samantha O'Keefe, originally from California, immediately recognized the area's potential on her post-graduate trip. And while no other winemakers were around, she bought her first estate in Greyton in 2003, which she planted with vines herself! She remains the only winemaker in the region and her decision never ceases to justify her, since the cold climate of the snowy mountain range and the warm African days, give wines with characteristic volume and complexity.
Viognier is one of the most demanding varieties in the harvest and maturation and to give its best characteristics it must be harvested strictly within a very specific period. Whole bunches were harvested and given excellent quality juice that was placed for 10 months in old French barrels, while 10% went into concrete eggs. Fruit, volume, oiliness, and complexity, are some of its characteristics. But the most important thing is the elegance of the catwalk and the ability to enjoy it now, but also within the next 5 years.
You should probably hurry!
