Vouvray Sec Belle au Naturel by Domaine du Petit Tresor of the Gaudron family is a wine that clearly proves that whites can not only age but can also evolve magically over time. You probably know that Chenin Blanc, the grape variety behind Vouvray, is a white variety with impressive potential! What you cannot imagine is how it transforms if it ages in barrels that previously had sweet Sauternes wine!
The amazing thing about this wine is that it hides many small details that make it truly unique. The Gaudron family originally made wine in the Vouvray area since 1890 so as you can understand they know very well what they are doing. Gilles Gaudron has followed the tradition and taken it one step further with continuous experimentation. This has as a result that his wines are constantly awarded in exhibitions and important international competitions.
Vouvray Sec Belle au Naturel 2014 comes from a vineyard of 12 acres, biodynamically cultivated, with 40-year-old Chenin Blanc vines. The grapes are hand-picked at the right time and then the wine is fermented and aged for 14 months in barrels from Sauternes. And not any Sauternes. We are talking about barrels from Chateau D’Yquem, the most famous and prestigious chateau in Sauternes, for which a special category has been created in the categorization of Bordeaux (Superior First Growth!).
We can talk for a while describing the divine result but, to be honest, only if you taste it you will understand!
Vouvray Sec Belle au Naturel 2014 has everything it needs to impress you!
