Why do we love it?

Orivatis Assyrtiko - Chardonnay from Akriotou Winery, is here to make it clear that the road to winemaking is uphill and difficult, but when you learn to climb it, it can become the most exciting route!

In 2018, Vasiliki Akriotou and Giorgos Kollias decided to make use of the family's abandoned vineyards, located at the foot of Kithairon, in the Plataes of Viotia, and to highlight the special characteristics and deliciousness of the Savvatiano variety. They followed other domestic and international varieties that suited the Theban land very well and created wines with a unique character and great value for money.

Orivatis Assyrtiko - Chardonnay is a very impressive blend of Assyrtiko and Chardonnay in equal proportion and unique balance. Each variety goes through a pre-fermentation extraction at a suitable temperature to enhance its fruity aromatic elements. Their coexistence, then in a common tank, with the lees for about 2 months and the gentle batonnage, give complexity and a fine buttery sensation, making it impressive.

Don't be intimidated by the exuberant characteristics of the two varieties. This marriage is irresistible and very comfortably entered the “everyday” category…

Tastes Like

In the glass it is lemon yellow. Intense aromatic character of peach, lemon, lime, citrus, yellow grapefruit, unripe bergamot and bergamot, with soft notes of mint.

Intense freshness in the mouth with cool acidity in perfect balance with the soft buttery sensation.

PAIR IT

Pair it with wild mushroom risotto, grilled fish or chicken, and grilled vegetables.

Shrimps with garlic and lemon

  • 500 gr. jumbo sized shrimps. Defrost them if they are frozen. If they are not pre-peeled, peel them when they have defrosted.)
  • 2 tbsps. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 2 tbsps. fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tbsp. lemon zest
  • salt

If you use frozen shrimps, let them defrost overnight in the fridge. Drain the shrimps and dry them with kitchen towel.

 Zest a large lemon and then squeeze the juice to give at least 2 tablespoons of juice and close to half a tablespoon of lemon zest. Clean the garlic and finely chop  it.

 Heat the olive oil in medium to high heat, then add the butter to melt.

Add the shrimps to a single layer and leave until they start getting pink color at the edges, no longer than 1-2 minutes.

Turn the shrimps on the other side and add the chopped garlic. Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes. Pour in the lemon juice, add the lemon zest and salt to taste and mix to cover the shrimps with the sauce.

Serve immediately
