Why do we love it?
Vidiano Young Vines 2019 Malihin - Chryssos is a different expression of the famous Cretan variety, which has even its own dissertation. Specifically, it is the result of the dissertation of Iliana Malihin, at TEI of Oenology of Crete! Impressive, right?

At the age of 24, Iliana Malihin made a discovery that shook the waters of Greek wine. She managed to isolate the indigenous yeasts from the skins of Vidiano and tried to vinify it with them, observing that they give a unique character to the wine while highlighting the typical aromas of the Greek variety. Two years later she presents her own wine, Vidiano Young Vines Malihin - Chryssos.

The young vines, 5-15 years old, in the village Melampes of Rethymnon, grow at an altitude of 650 meters with strictly organic farming. The harvest is done by hand and then the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks with the ambient yeasts that Iliana has isolated. The wine ages for 6 months with its fine wine lees acquiring an oily, creamy texture.

Tastes Like

Vidiano Young Vines 2019 Malihin - Chryssos has medium lemon color and impressive aromas of peach, apricot, bergamot, lemon, citrus, lemon blossom, and chamomile. Hints of dough complete the unique set. In the mouth, it has a medium (+) body and refreshing acidity. Ripe stone fruits such as nectarine and apricot are framed by notes of citrus, grapefruit, lemon, orange blossom, and sourdough.
