Why do we love it?
Have you ever tasted wine from vines that literally grow in a lake? Most likely not, but now is the time to do it with the incredibly full, fat and fruity Viognier 2021 from the Mas family's Domaine de la Ferrandiere.
The vines for Viognier 2021 have just come of age. They are located in the dried-up lake of Marseille, next to the countless canals and close to the slopes of Saint-Frichoux. Think the region is called the Veneto of Languedoc. Every year, the vineyards are flooded for about two months during the winter from the surrounding canals, to protect them from frost and phylloxera. You understand that the clay and limestone soil of the lake is extremely rich in salts, giving unique complexity and finesse to this impressive Viognier.
We tried it and it left us speechless! We recommend it unreservedly.
