VEGAN WINES
Given that wine is the product of grapes and yeast, you would assume that all wines would be appropriate for Vegans. However, this isn’t always the case...
Some products used in traditional processes of fining or stabilizing come from animals. Egg whites or casein can be used to remove small particles of sediment from wine. Vegan winemakers either allow the particles to settle naturally at the bottom of the wine, or use non-animal fining products, usually bentonite or pea protein. Other animal-derived products include beeswax and agglomerated corks.
