When was the last time you really got excited about a wine? If you visited the last botilia.gr's Open Day, it probably was when you tried the Valpolicella Superiore Il Mastego - Bellora Tenuta di Naiano.
Bellora Winery is one of Verona's most historic wineries. In 1939 Giuseppe Bellora bought a piece of land at Naiano to showcase the land and its procucts. Olive oil, wine and vinegar were just the beginning....
The winery was put in the hands of his son in 1969, who brought modern vinification techniques and managed to make known the estate for his Bardolino Classico! Now the third generation of the family has taken on the same passion and love for the land, and the results are spectacular. New labels like Amarone and Valpolicella Superiore put the standards higher. Interesting is the fact that they make a Valpolicella Superiore and a Ripasso, while they are not dealing with the simple Valpolicella. This itself, shows the persistence of the estate with high quality and luxury.
Valpolicella Superiore Il Mastego consists of Corvina Veronese 70%, Rondinella 25%, Oseleta 5%. The grapes come from the privately owned vineyards of the estate, located at an altitude of 280 meters. The harvest is done by hand and the nectar ferments in stainless tanks for about 2 weeks. Then 50% goes into French oak barrels and 50% in Slovenian oak casks for 12 months. The result is a rich and fleshy wine, with round tannins and exceptional complexity.
Trying it, no one was unmoved. Will you resist?
