Château D’Esclans, from the homonymous winery in Provence, is the estate’s most affordable premium rosé from its privately-owned vineyards, combining both elegance and richness. The discreet oak notes dress the crisp, juicy fruit, creating a rosé that is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before.
Sacha Lichine is the man whose name is associated with the rosé revolution in Provence, making the whole world drink rosé in his name. Daring to apply “Burgundy” techniques that until then seemed edgy, he succeeded in creating great rosé wines, debunking, with a deafening noise, the myth that rose wines are simple wines with a hint of red fruit and light body, drunk mainly in summer. But Sacha's "swagger" did not stop there: he created a collection of rosé wines for all budgets and tastes, introducing the public to a rosé for every dish and every moment, by collecting the best grapes from collaborating vineyards and working with dedication on his own vineyards. Château D'Esclans is the first wine of the premium category, from their own vineyards, with impressive complexity and mouthfeel.
At Château d' Esclans, the vinification protocol for each wine is different and very precise. For Chateau D'Esclans the blend consists of Grenache and Rolle (it is the Vermentino variety, yes!). As the fine salmon color suggests, there is no maceration with the skins. On the other hand, as you can see from the impressive structure on the palate, they use mainly the free run juice (the finest juice of the grapes) with a small percentage of the first pressings (the juice with light tannins). The blend ferments and matures for 7 months in stainless steel tanks and 600 liter French oak barrels. The result is a combination of opulence and finesse, with a creamy texture and crisp fruit.
Château D’Esclans challenges even the most skeptical of the rosé category to resist to its charm!
