Billy Walker did his miracle again, proving his greatness and the reasons why he will always be a pro in the creation of blended whiskies!
Glenallachie is one of the most famous single malt whiskey distilleries in Speyside, Aberlour, founded in 1967. Producing and bottling mainly blended whiskeys is their specialty, with distillates now making history. The master blender is Billy Walker, with over 50 years of experience under his belt and now a legend in his field.
For GlenAllachie 9 Yo The Cuvée Cask Finish, he did something groundbreaking that finally worked and turned the tables! He first aged the whiskey in the best quality American oak casks that had previously housed bourbon, then transferred it to European casks that had been used for wine, to finish the aging there. But not barrels of one class, but a combination of barriques from excellent wine-growing regions, such as Languedoc, Valpolicella, and a Premier Cru Chateaux of Bordeaux. Distilled in 2012, it reached 48 alcohol degrees and the whiskey was bottled without chill filtering and without color addition, in 2022.
Natural copper in the glass. On the nose aromas of white flowers, mainly orange blossoms. Honey, butterscotch, and roasted almonds, framed by notes of ginger and cinnamon, in a warm and very aromatic effect. In the mouth, there is a perfect balance of honey and nuts. Dried red fruits, coffee beans, honeycomb, and orange peel in a perfect match with notes of cinnamon and plum, in a rich and long aftertaste.
