Le Dilettante Chenin is a very special Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley! Aromas of flowers, citrus, and tropical fruits, beautifully framed by a distinct minerality, remind us why this combination of variety and region is deservedly the most recognized in the world!
Catherine and Pierre Breton continue the family tradition of growing grapes, passed down to them after about 4 generations, starting in 1886. The vines are located in Bourgueil in the Loire Valley, world famous for its unique quality Chenin Blanc. The climate in the area is mild and the soil of limestone and chalk gives Chenin a very special character, emphasizing the terroir of the area. The first label, Le Dilletante, was Catherine's child and from then until today, she insists on the organic and biodynamic cultivation of the vines, with particularly impressive results.
Le Dilettante Chenin consists of 100% Chenin Banc, from the Vernou sur Brenne region that, after manual harvesting, were lightly pressed to isolate the most qualitative part of their juice, which ended up in stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts. The soil gives an intense but very different minerality than you've tasted, while a small touch of residual sugars brings the perfect balance. It stays for 8 months in oak barrels and the result ends up being a very tasty and juicy wine that, wherever it is found, will make its presence felt!
You'll enjoy it plain, but you shouldn't miss out on the delicious feast with lobster pasta or a chèvre tart.
