Kendall Jackson Winery is one of the largest and most emblematic in California. It was founded in 1974 by Jess Jackson, who started with 32 hectares of land in the area that later emerged as the Sonoma Valley AVA. The winery's "star" varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, with the latter standing out for its rich, barrel-aged wines that uniquely capture the terroir of the region. One such wine is Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay.

Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay is produced exclusively from 100% Chardonnay and the grapes come from the cool, coastal regions of California. It is fermented and matured in French (5% new) and American (6% new) barrels for 5 months, while the contact with the lees and its frequent stirring, results in the characteristic velvety texture and complexity. Aromas of pineapple, mango, papaya, and citrus notes, blend wonderfully with the barrel and give a highly enjoyable result.

Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay by Kendall Jackson has the very characteristic Californian character and if you are a fan of the genre you should not miss it.

Tastes Like

In the glass, it is a lemon with golden highlights. Intense aromas of ripe tropical fruits, mango, pineapple, melon, and sweet lemon with notes of vanilla, butterscotch, honey, and toasted bread.

In the mouth, it has a medium (+) body with balanced acidity in perfect harmony with the delightful oiliness. Aromas of mango, papaya, melon, ripe peach, honey, honeycomb, vanilla, and cream, combine very harmoniously with the distinctive toast from the barrel. The aftertaste is creamy and long.

PAIR IT

Pair it with pasta dishes with white sauces, chicken with mushrooms, and grilled fish with sauce au beurre

Chicken Piccata

  • 2 chicken fillets (breast or thigh)
  • 3 tbsps. of butter
  • 3 juicy lemons
  • 150 ml. white wine (preferably Sauvignon blanc or Assyrtiko)
  • 150 ml. chicken broth, hot
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • Olive oil
  • Flour for all purposes
  • Capers
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground pepper

First mush up, in a mortar, a pinch of salt, a few peppercorns, some lemon zest and 1 1/ tablespoon of olive oil.

Cut the fillets along with a sharp knife, creating 2 slices of each breast.

Brush the fillets with the mortar mixture by lightly massage the chicken and then flour the fillets.

In a large pan add 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When they heat up, we sauté the chicken until it gets a nice golden color and we remove it from the pan.

In the same pan add the broth and the wine. Allow to boil and then put the fillets back into the pan.

Leave it to high heat until the sauce begins to thicken slightly.  As long as the sauce cools, it will thicken even more, so do not let the whole sauce evaporate.

Add 1 tablespoon of butter, the lemon juice from the two lemons and a few slices of lemon, shake the pan and add the capers.

Remove it from the fire, add chopped parsley and serve with thin pasta, rice or boiled potatoes!
