How would you feel if we told you that there is a Pinot Grigio that never falls below 90 points (by Suckling and Parker) and that it reminds a little more of its French sibling, in terms of concentration and structure, while maintaining its elegance and lightness? And yet the wine we are talking about exists and it is the Pinot Grigio St. Michael Eppan. There is no way you won’t love it!
Well, the winery St. Michael Eppan is located in northern Italy, specifically in Appiano, in the heart of Bolzano. They make wines with a focus on terroir and local varieties that are famous all over the world. Their Pinot Grigios, however, are probably the best in Italy and the ones that form a completely different style that is more similar to the Alsatian style. Pinot Grigio St. Michael Eppan is one of them and in fact, it is the one with the most impressively low price compared to its content. It comes from vines 5-35 years old, cultivated at an altitude of 400-500 meters. Only the best grapes are selected for this wine, which is then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Part of it goes through malolactic conversion to acquire extra complexity and creamy texture but at the same time to maintain its refreshing acidity.
Combine it with light raw seafood dishes or with your party mood.
