If you haven't heard of Prorogos Roditis of MicroBio Winery, now is the time! Something new has been getting ready for some time now by Nikos and Dimitris Koutsodimos, with Gastouni Ilias as the protagonist this time, where the 60 acres of organically grown family vineyards are located. MicroBio Winery is one of the few Greek wineries that applies certified principles of biodynamic cultivation. They grow Roditis, Chardonnay, and in the newest vineyards Mavrotragano and Augoustiatis, while experimenting a lot with the international varieties. Keep that name because you will hear it often from now on!
We know, Roditis and Savatiano as the most widely planted varieties in Greece do not impress you, but Prorogos Roditis of the MicroBio Winery is special.
First of all, do you know why they call it Prorogos? Prorogos in greek is the juice that comes out of the grapes without any pressure at all, except that from the weight of the grapes that are on top of them. It is the best juice you can get from your grapes and is used in the premium wines of every winemaker. Such is the juice used for Prorogos Roditis MicroBio, giving a lively, playful, organic white wine and if you have a thing for natural wines, this one is very low in the sulfate concentration, below the limit.
In short, you have to try it because it won't be around much longer...
