Roditis Barrique 2021 Ktima Ligas is a Roditis that differs from the others. This "humble" variety is transformed into a world-class wine that stars in wine fairs with natural wines abroad but also in fine dining restaurants.
Behind this wine is the beloved Ligas family. Thomas Ligas together with his daughter Melisanthi, are constantly experimenting with new techniques based on mild natural vinification. Their philosophy can be summarized as follows: permaculture *, zero interventions in wine, no sulfites, no commercial yeasts. Roditis Barrique 2020 is a Roditis that ferments with ambient yeasts and matures in old, large, oak barrels for 8-12 months. It is bottled unfiltered and the result is exuberant, intense and with a bold personality just like the great Melina Mercouri that appears on its label.
Such a fabulous wine could only be bottled in a strictly limited number of bottles (2000 in total), so if you have not tried it yet, it's time to discover your next favorite wine.
* The permaculture got its name from permanent agriculture and it is a cultivation method that ensures a sustainable life cycle. In simple words, the cultivation of the vine does not compete with nature and its environment but cooperates with it for the purpose of sustainability and stability of the environment.
