Venus La Universal was created by Sara Pérez and René Barbier, who were trained in the wineries of their families. These are Mas Martinet, led by Sara's father, and Clos Mogador, who belongs to René's father, a descendant of a well-known dynasty of French winemakers who settled in the Penedés region more than a century ago. Both pioneered the creation of wines in Priorat when the potential of the area was still unknown. The new generation of Pérez and Barbier bet in the area of DO Montsant before it was even created and today, it is one of the most famous Catalan terroirs.
Venus La Universal, a regional winery, uses purely ecological methods to produce wines from the Garnacha, Cariñena, Merlot, Syrah, Macabeo, and Garnacha Blanca varieties.
